My thoughts:
You both have points. you can´t be proud of of body features you are born with.. thats no achievment. you always need a story or culture behind it .
Black pride in america can be legit if you see it in the context of the won civilrights fight or afroamericanculture. it does not work on skin colour..
White pride again does not work on skin colour and because white skinned people do not have a cohesive culture or event in america to be proud of..
So the difference is black pride can be not racist but is maybe not the best term and needs clarification since racist black people can also use it.. Saying white pride in the USA mostly is purely racist because of the above.

ok so i have some points, in my honest opinion its pretty dumb to say "black pride" or "white pride" because one, not all black people are from the same country nor do they have the same ancestry. same goes with white people, however for the sake of argument saying black pride is not racist while white pride is racist is silly. if you want to say "white people do this nd that" well couldnt we just say that black people also committed horrible atrocious shit.
also tama i have to disagree with your second point. black people have also created hate groups against white people. for example the black panthers, the new black panthers and TO AN EXTENT black lives matter. yes ik white americans also have hate groups, their most infamous being the kkk, but they are rightfully vilified anyway so almost nobody endorses them.
so in conclusion i like to think that when white people say 'white pride" they are either referring to their culture of their ancestors which is totally fine. however i would never say anything like that because even tho my ancestors come from mexico and if i go further they probably come from spain, im nothing like them culturally and the usa has accepted me and my family(despite what trump haters say and no i dont support this idiot) but thats just my opinion

I think it should be okay to say "white pride", but in the parlance of our times, people get too outraged by its cultural association to nazis and various white supremacists sects. The facebook liberals should have just said that, and I would have no choice but to concede that to them. Instead, they go in circles trying in vain to work their way out of circular logic and the inconsistency they can't resolve. That facebook debate got bigger with it being joined by more peopl, and went on in that fashion.

both terms are rightfully controversial. and i think when u use them u really wanna express something differently than what you say: if i would live in the USA, i would ofcourse be proud to have german heritage, but if i want to express that i would not say white pride, i would say something like german pride. What i mean is, white pride just says you are proud to be a white skinned person, skincolour is neither good or bad, so nothing you can be proud of, if you are not racist. Same goes for black pride.
if you are proud to have european/african/whatever roots just say so, white/black pride is just the wrong term. and if people in the US are proud of the afroamerican community they should just say so.. black pride is really a bad way to express that.
